Gents, the battle resumes again between EA's Fifa and PES series. With the latter's demo is made available since yesterday, once again we have the chance to compare their latest installments.
So I have tested PES 2010 demo. If you think PES 2010 will outclass Fifa 10 this year... I say don't. Not even close. The game is merely similar to what we had previously, except probably for few subtle improvements. I was hoping significant changes to be made in the game. But that seems not going to happen. One good thing about the demo is there is no more that annoying advert video after you play a match! Hooray! :D
"... returning PES 2010 to its simulation roots."
The above quotation is taken from a list of PES 2010 features. It seems that they are trying to win back some of the fans with, in my dictionary, the old gameplay. In my opinion, that is not the way to achieve continuity in success in this endless marathon not to overhaul the disappointing gameplay in previous version. I applaud what EA had done for Fifa 09 with their new amazing gameplay and continuing the improvement without messing them a lot with this year's Fifa 10 . **they still need to solve some of the glitches as I encountered it numerous time even after few game update in Fifa 09 such as in situation where I got pass the last defender and I passed the ball to my teammate ahead of me, it was judged as offside! LOL! Correct me if I am wrong**
For me, I still think the disappointments far outweigh the plus points in PES 2010 (I like the main menu presentation though). Last year, the lackluster PES 2009 have attributed to my easy and straightforward decision to choose Fifa 09 instead and likewise, it will be the same again come this October.
The tide has turned. PES, the frontrunner in the past, are now playing catch-up game that EA's Fifa had done for so long. This healthy competiton can only bring great things to us as both series are striving for success. LET'S FIFA 10!!!
For now.
ps: the video is another of my upload and this time, it's from Fifa 09
Downloaded the demo. Played and Loving it!!! Looks like I'm gonna buy me another Fifa (Fifa 10), unless their rival PES 2010 offers me something else different from what they did previously. I take two factors into consideration when choosing between these two games. Money and entertainment value. Fifa was cheaper than PES last year. Hopefully it would be the same again this year. Fifa 09 was a whole new experience in football gaming for me and PES 2009 was like an iteration process with a little bit of tweak here and there without any new great outcomes. Very much same old same old.
Fifa 10 is another level. The player faces are as close as you can get. One of your bigger central defender will come forward in every set-piece situations such as Chelsea's John Terry. Unlike last year, they will only aid the attack in these situations when there is greater sense of urgency to find a goal. There are a lot more to say here. Personally, I like the passing and crossing style the player does. It just feels so right. My point is... the game's a huge improvement from its predecessor and the amazing gameplay has captured my attention yet again. As for PES 2010, we'll need to wait for the demo before I can comment much further.
By the way, I managed to upload during in-game the following video below from Fifa 10 demo to my EA account. Now tell me, was that a clear backpass by Ashley Cole or what? LOL. Nothing was given against them (Chelsea).
